Baking our mark on Surrey
A new artisan bakery is producing some of the best bread in the county at Priory Farm – giving food lovers another great reason to visit.
Chalk Hills Bakery operates out of a kitchen in a converted tractor shed at the farm, making traditionally baked bread available to our customers – either to eat in at the Coffee Shop, or to take home.
The skilled craftsmen bake bread using traditional processes involving long fermentation times and the hand moulding of each loaf, creating not just great tasting, but great looking, bread.
Chalk Hills makes bread using a long fermentation process that allows the natural doughs to react over time – in some cases up to 36 hours – which improves the flavour, texture and shelf-life of the bread. It’s a process that cannot be rushed and this is what makes the bread outstanding.
The full range includes:
Surrey Sourdough, Fig and Walnut Levain, Poppy Seed Levain, 100% Rye, Cape Seeded Loaf, Surrey Bloomer, Surrey White Tin Loaf, Box Hill Brown (Tin Brown Loaf), Italian sticks
